Pahoa Retreat Home Description:
This is a large, beautifully furnished home with amazing ocean views on 15 acres of cultivated property perfect for family gatherings or small retreats. The home features hardwood floors and attractive furnishings including an impressive crystal collection, paintings and framed photo prints. There is a large front porch with tables and reclining chairs. Four of the rooms have private bathrooms. The house comes with an additional 625 sq foot covered space which is great for yoga and gatherings.
You'll find yourself a lot on the front porch enjoying the expansive ocean view. This house has what is probably the best ocean view in the area! There is a backyard space for private sunbathing. In addition to the house you get access to our yoga shala. This also has amazing ocean views and features a vibrant original mural of Pele, the volcano goddess. There are yoga mats and props available for your use. If you come during July or August there will also be yoga classes available on our neighbor land a short walk away.
Enjoy strolling through our beautiful 15 acres with expansive ocean views, 2 ponds and many gardens featuring flowers, orchids, medicinal plants, fruit trees, chickens and more. Enjoy our 50 foot circular mandala flower garden featuring a custom made sculpture of Pele at the center. There are plenty of little hideaway places to discover, fruits to pick and an amazing 2 mile loop hike that goes around the neighborhood.
All of our accommodations are built with the solar & rain water catchment system to demonstrate an alternative way of living sustainably. When you are enjoying the amazing ocean view, you can feel the refreshing trade winds, and the magical energy of this ancient land. There is even a large lava tube on the land you can visit.
New Earth Mandala is located in the most pristine and unspoiled area of Big Island. Only minutes from the famous Red Road that offers a rolling scenic view of tropical forest and turquoise blue sea shore. You will be amazed by these raw powerful landscapes and rhythmic waves crashing against rugged lava coastlines.
The "Red Road" takes you through lush coconut & mango groves, tropical rainforests, tranquil ocean side parks, plantations and lava fields. You won't see any corporate resort and tourist stores on this road. Time stops here and mother nature opens you to an old Hawaiian dream of wild beauty and grace. Within a short drive, you can reach some lovely black sand beaches including the new beach at Isaac Hale park as well as Kehena beach. There is a gathering on this beach on Sunday afternoons if you are looking to hang with the locals.
You won't want to miss the Wednesday night's gathering at Uncle Robert's Cultural Center where great local musicians are playing, the locals and visitors are dancing and there are delicious foods, BBQ and all kinds of goodies as well as beautiful handcrafts by local artists. On Sundays there is also the Pahoa farmers market which has a similar scene. In addition to the Thursday night dance, ten minutes down the road, Hawaiian Sanctuary has a Friday evening and Sunday morning ecstatic dance as well.
This neighborhood offers endless discoveries of beautiful spots along the seashore and in the forest, wonderful people and rich cultural activities. This is a very colorful community of artists, writers, organic farmers, sustainable living pioneers and free spirits.
There are a number of nice restaurants in Pahoa town within a short drive. Stroll the charming “downtown” of the Puna region and take in the wild-west feel of a Victorian village, complete with vintage buildings, New Age boutiques, craft stores, art galleries and a variety of cafes and restaurants.
Humpback whales visit this part of ocean in the winter months. Dolphins often frequent our local beaches. You will be enchanted by the magic of the nature and the unique blend of cultures of this area.
